Mécénat Musica
In perpetuity
A gesture like no other that keeps culture healthy ... in perpetuity ...
for generations to come
Mécénat Musica is a cultural program created by donors for donors in 2013, to create permanent capital for the Quebec cultural organizations of the donor’s choice, in order to ensure their autonomy and financial security in perpetuity (forever), thus ensuring the health of Quebec culture today and for generations to come.
In comparison to traditional donations which are spent on events, projects and annual expenses, donations under the Mécénat Musica program cannot be spent by the organization. Rather, donations are made to permanent capital held by a community foundation for the benefit of the organization and matched by government and other Mécénat Musica donor families, thereby creating a much larger amount of permanent capital for the organization. This permanent capital generates an ongoing source of annual income to the organization of the donor’s choice.
Mécénat Musica encourages individuals to make a donation of $25,000 (net after tax cost as low as $5,425) to a cultural organization that is important to them, and encourages philanthropic families to match these individuals’ donations with donations of $250,000 or $2,500,000.
This is a major shift in cultural philanthropy, UNIQUE IN THE WORLD.
